Cloud Forest Institute 10 Year Anniversary Course Description

3 part course July 6th - 16th, July 16th - Aug. 1, Aug. 1st - 10th

Section 1- Spanish Language Intensive Course and Amazonian Indigenous Peoples & Nature Conservation Studies

Activities: Morning Spanish lessons on a one to one basis. Afternoons visiting lakes to see caiman and fish for piranhas, canoeing along river tributaries, hiking in the jungle to see and learn about the flora and fauna, and visit a Shaman to learn about natural medicine.

Section 2- Service Learning Intro to Cloud Forest Conservation, Biology, and Sustainability Studies

Activities: Volunteer and learn in the Cambugan Forest (protected with the help of CFI and our generous donors). Volunteer with community projects. Learn from dedicated activists, who’ve worked in the field for over 20 years.

Section 3- Study of Andean Geology, Ecology and Cultures

Activities: A driving tour thru the Andes from Quito to Cuenca. Visit the Inga Pirca Inca ruins, Otovalo Indigenous Market, and hot springs in Papallacta, while learning about their geology, ecology and cultures.

Students will participate daily in activities, presentations, and evening discussions with one another, instructors, special presenters and local community members. Studying to receive academic credit is optional, requiring a learning contract and portfolio, and an additional $200.

Each section costs $1,000 and can be taken individually or together, there is a 5% discount if you enroll in all three. Tuition covers meals, lodging, in country transportation, and instruction.

Additional costs include but are not limited to: airfare, required travel insurance, books, immunizations if you so choose, and spending cash for shopping and extras.

Register early by April 22nd for a 5% discount.

Accepting registration until June 11th.

Register late until July 3rd for an additional 10% (space permiting).
