Sumo, like the wrestler that
His nickname did imply
Faced the world squarely
And let opinions fly
He looked out on the future
At the choices that we face
He saw the right and wrong of
It and boldly took his place
The forest wrapped in Cloud Mist
And Wal-Marts wrapped in wealth
Economies to localize
And governmental stealth
Year 2000 prophesies
A world we can sustain
All earned his rapt attention
To protect or to disdain
Every movement needs its heroes
In Sumo we had one
Sometimes his tact was lacking
But a shirker he was none
He liked that stick for talking
When he had a thing to say
And to all of us he left behind
He's passed that stick today'
