From CFI

Welcome to the GULP Health Group

The Health working group was formed following the brainstorming meeting of February 7, 2006. It became abundantly clear to the Steering Committee that health care is a major concern for participants.

Several key areas of concern for this group include:

-Engaging the traditional medical community that practices in Ukiah

-Working with alternative health providers

-Promoting Healthy lifestyles

April 17, 2006 -- In response to a question from Ike about creating a local health insurance option, Lily Carvallo with the County Public Health Department noted that there is an effort underway to develop improved local health care option. Lily can be contacted at 472-2771 for more information.

April 8, 2006 -- Ruth and I are talking about creating a small "medicine chest" herbal garden in our front yard. Is there someone in the health area who could give us some guidance -- which herbs like to be close to others and vice versa? We live at 508 West Mill St. in Ukiah, and already have some herbs around the yard. Also, information on how to best put these herbs into tinctures and other ways of health delivery would be appreciated. If you have some of these medicinal herbs to share with us, that would be fantastic. Leeya (467-8456)
