The Rules
This space is for developing and sharing articles related to farmers market, local farming, local food, and related issues for publication in Mendocino County newspapers and other local print media. By placing your article here or otherwise contributing content to this site you are agreeing that your writting can be used for publication as needed without royalty or other compensation. However, articles primarily drafted by a single author will be attributed to that author at the time of publication. Authors wishing to recieve attribution should include short text identifying themselve as desired to be submitted with the article.
Because different publications have different requirements regarding article length and other specific and to ensure uniformity and quality, MCFARM market managers will edit all articles prior to submission for publication. MCFARM will also edit articles to fit the circumstances of specific markets in the area of publication. For example, if an article that is about fruits produced in Mendocino County and the farms producing them is being submitted for publication in a Laytonville paper it may be edited to dicuss only those fruits and farms that customer could expect to find at the Laytonville market the following week. MCFARM might also append a brief discussion featuring special events at the local farmers market on the week that the article will appear in the local paper. Ideally completed articles will be in the range of 500 words. However, longer articles are encouraged to allow for timming to match the specific circumstances of each market at the time of local publication.
Anyone can contribute. You can add content to articles on existing article themes as identified below or add entirely new themes and articles. However, please do not edit another author's article without permission. Instead, please identify yourself and append suggested additions or add related material for possible use in an additional or extended article on the same topic.
Directions for working with this page are provided below. Please review the directions, log in, and then start workging on one of the topics identified in the links provided or by adding a new link for your topic in the following section. Thanks for your help!!

How To Work With These Pages
If you have not already created a log-in for yourself go back to the CFI homepage (www.cloudforet.org, http://www.cloudforest.org/Cloud_Forest_Institute) and read the text in the box titled "about this site." Click on the words "create a free account" you can create a log-in to use whenever you visit this site to update and edit information. You can also click on the word "wiki" it will link to a site with lots of information about how to use wiki websites such as this one.
Once you have created a log-in and logged-in you can click the "edit" option on whatever page you are reviewing to add or edit information. Once you are in the edit mode you will have what is essentially a page of text on screen that you can edit by simply typing in whatever information you would like at the location you would like it to appear. When you have entered or edited data you can preview it by clicking on the box that says "show preview" underneath the edit box before you save your work. When you are finished editing make sure to click the "Save page" box to have your changes added to the on-line version of the page.
A quick way to get the hang of how editing works and to become familiar with the available WIKI format code is to pick a page and select the "edit" option. You will then be looking at the contents of that page in the edit mode and can review how other text that has been added appears. For example, you will notice that text which appears as a section level heading begins and ends with two equal signs (i.e., "=="). You can then imitate the formatting of previous entries. Also, you can use the toolbar just below the page's main heading to do basic text formating such as adding bold or links. Just point at an item on the toolbar and you will get an explanation of its function. To use the toobar you first highlight selected text and the click on the desired function on the toolbar such as selecting the "B" to bold selected text. When you select a function from the toolbar, the WIKI system will automatically add the appropriate code on both sides of the text that you have highlighted. Have fun!
