Internship, Residence and Work Trade Programs
Internships
Students and professionals are invited to intern with Cloud Forest Institute in Mindo, Ecuador. Interns are expected to fulfill obligations defined in a work plan during 35 hours a week. There are ongoing positions and special internships. Interns must be qualified to apply. Stipends may sometimes be available. Fees listed below cover food and lodging.
$1,000 Three month internship – no special visa required.
$1,800 Six month internship – visa extension (costs $200) required in Ecuador or apply for visa from your home country before traveling.
Interns who commit to a year or more receive $100 monthly stipend beginning after a three month trial period.
Ongoing Internship Positions
Administrative Support
Receive and reply to inquiries, applications, and receive and archive registration documents, maintain attendance calendars, other administrative tasks as required.
Technology
Support students at Tech Lab, maintain online social networking presence, website development, build and maintain CFI research database archive wiki.
PR, Student Outreach
Develop PR materials, Create and maintain partnership with Universities, Schools, Volunteer and Student Groups, Maintain online profiles on special interest sites.
Grant Writing / Fundraising
Plan fundraising events, build support for special campaigns, research and write grants. 10% of funds raised are paid as stipend.
Curriculum Development
Develop courses for CFI and get paid to teach them.
Community Professional Support
Do you have special skills that you want to share with the community? Help local business, youth programs, and primary and secondary school students learn and improve professional skills like English and other languages, advertise their businesses online, skills for cross cultural exchanges, business and municipal planning, municipal service project development etc etc.
Special Internships
Service-Learning Community Partner Liaison
Create and maintain productive partnerships with local governmental and NGO public benefit projects. Coordinate volunteer and SL projects.
Amazon Mycorenewal Project
Work with AMP to develop project plans, dissiminate data, design presentions, develop proposals and apply for grants. Coordinate volunteers and projects in Ecuador.
Mindo Municipio
Work with the municipal governmental in Mindo to support community development and improvement, planning and projects.
Child Care
Provide childcare for children of staff and students during summer program. Stipend provided, $2 per hour per child. Finger printing/background check required.
Residence Program
$500 per month
Artists, authors, thesis students, researchers, and professionals on sabbatical are invited to enjoy the resources and support provided by Cloud Forest Institute while pursuing their individual projects. Resources provided include food and lodging, limited library, science, technology and media equipment, professional and social community.
Work Trade
Work Traders are asked to commit to between 3 - 6 months and work 40 hours per week supporting all activities as needed including restaurant, cafeteria, bar, housekeeping, volunteer and educational programs and events. Food and lodging are provided. Two positions are available, couples are invited to apply.
